Phoenix Normand

Biography

Phoenix aka LeGerald began his career as a classically trained dancer. Like many black artists, he began singing in the church choir at an early age, honing his skills along the way with plays, recitals and dance performances, eventually graduating to dance scholarships in San Francisco and New York City, TV commercials, national tours, print modeling, film and now, bona fide recording artist.

His motto:

TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE

Phoenix's debut CD, "Find Your Way" is a labor of love 13 years in the making. It is a compilation of both experiences and lessons learned whose common thread is "hope."

"There's nothing more satisfying than being able to access your rawest emotions and allow yourself to really feel -- and convey those feelings through music. It's so gratifying, if not a bit weird, to have people tell you that a song that you wrote from your very unique experience, touched them so profoundly in their lives. I write songs about how I'm feeling...giddy, remorseful, bitter, oogy with love...the whole gamut. I don't really have an off switch emotionally, so my songs and my life, really, tend to gravitate toward being "emotional." I wouldn't change a thing...all the pain and heartbreak, all of the work and double work I've had to do just to get this far, all of the drama that continues to surround me...I wouldn't change it for the world."
